Explaining The Loop
How do you understand the WordPress Loop and how would you use it to display a list of blog posts? (200 words)
The WordPress Loop refers to the PHP code that is utilised to display posts and tags in WordPress. WordPress will format and display elements of the post based on a set of criteria within the loop tags at the time of posting. The PHP code can be adjusted in order to customise how certain aspects of the posts are viewed. For example, a developer might want to display the title name of a specific post was published so they could do this using the tag “<?php the_title (); ?>”
There are also custom tags that can be defined and used on each post. A developer might want to display the name of the author of the post, they could do this by using the the_author tag. PHP also uses conditional tags. These are tags that will continuously check a conditional state of a page which will be displayed if the condition is met.
If you want to use PHP to generate a list of blog posts, you can do this using the WordPress get_posts functionality, but first, you'd need to define the parameters of the posts that you wish to get. For example, you might want to generate a list of blog posts that belong to a certain category.
